Steam Condensate Load Calculator

Calculate steam condensate loads for steam-trap and condensate-line sizing. Three contributors: startup warm-up load (heating piping and equipment from ambient to operating temperature), running load (steady-state heat loss through pipe walls and insulation), and process load (heat transferred to a process). Uses IAPWS-IF97 for steam enthalpies.

Trap sizing typically uses 2–3× the running load (safety factor for upset and warm-up); condensate-line sizing uses the largest of warm-up or running with two-phase flow allowance for flash steam.
